The Giant Mountains located on the border of the Czech Republic and Poland, are the best known chain of mountains in the region.
The highest mountain in the Giant Mountains is "Sněžka" (in Czech) and reaches 1602 metres above sea level. It is located on the Czech-Polish border and is the highest mountain peak in the Czech Republic.
The Giant Mountains are popular with Czech and international visitors who travel to the area for skiing in the winter and biking and hiking in the summer. The Giant Mountains are considered a more economical alternative to the Alps as a winter sport destination, and as such the winter tourism industry has been growing steadily over the past years. Although the Czech republic is considered an economical destination, all facilities and infrastructure one could need is present: trails and bike paths are well marked and roads are properly maintained.
The appealing mountain climate also ads to the region’s popularity and since 1963 a large part of the Giant Mountains has been protected as a National Park, ensuring the preservation of the abundant flora and fauna in the region.
The Giant Mountains offer a range of recreational possibilities for any taste or physical skill level; from walking, hiking or fishing to paragliding and mountain biking or horse back riding.
There are several cities and villages in the Giant Mountains, and property is being developed in the area to meet rising demands.
As a large part of the Giant Mountains is declared a National Park, development possibilities are finite and as a result this increasingly popular area has great capital appreciation potential. |
