Fuerteventura, which is the second largest of the Canary Islands, is overflowing with sunshine and gorgeous scenery. Fuerteventura is the closest Canary Island to the African coast. It's weather conditions are very similar to Florida and Mexico, which makes it a great place to retire. Enormous sand dunes and long white beaches make this a great place to spend the seasons. Water sports are very popular here as thousands of surfers, windsurfers and divers can attest. In July the island is host to the P.W.A world windsurfing event. The Betancuria Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography is a notable landmark as is the Tefia Craft Village, which always attracts the local artists. Fuerteventura is becoming one of the most popular locations of the Canary Islands.
